| "Questions to Bring You Closer" a series designed to help you strengthen the relationship with the most important people in your life. |
| At age 16, Stuart Gustafson lost both his Dad and his grandpa when they were killed by a drunk driver. It took him 40 years to turn that tragedy around and find a way to get the answers to the very questions he was never able to ask them. Stuart teamed up with veteran author and media personality Robyn Freedman Spizman to write Questions to Bring You Closer to Dad -- the first book in the Questions to Bring You Closer series -- a series of books designed to strengthen the relationships with the most important people in our lives. The series has expanded to now include Questions to Bring You Closer to Mom and Questions to Bring You Closer to Grandma & Grandpa. It's never too late to get to know Dad. Even if he is a "man of few words," the "Dad" book offers suggestions for helping him to open up about his life, his experiences, and his relationship with family members and close friends. The book shows you not only what questions to ask, but how to ask them. Do you know what "type of Dad" defines your Dad? Is he Adventurous, Career Driven, Free Spirited, Nature Loving, Scholarly, Social Magnet? Or is his "Central Characteristic" one of the other twelve types defined in the book? In addition to learning how to pick out your Dad's type, the book will give you suggestions -- specific to your Dad's type -- on:
While many people have the "typical picture" of Mom to be a stay-at-home Mom, there are many who are combining rewarding careers outside the home. Is your Mom a Workaholic, is she Hobby Loving, or is she a Super Mom? Perhaps she is one of the other fifteen types described in the book. If your Mom is the Super Mom, do you know what you can do for her, or with her, that makes her happy? It's all in the book. Perhaps your Mom or Dad is only a phone call away, or sadly - like Stuart - your father is no longer alive. If your Mom ir Dad is no longer alive, the book provides a special way to bring his or her most special attributes and memories to light. With the help of questions in this book, and through your family and other people who knew them, it is still possible to obtain the answers. All you have to do is make the time. Grandparents are harder to really know because of the extra generation between grandparents and grandchildren. Knowing "What Grandma enjoys to keep her busy" or "What do you think of first when you think of Grandpa?" will help bridge that gap. Don't be afraid to ask them about your own parents - you might be surprised at their answers! The purpose of the Questions to Bring You Closer series is to make it easy for you to gather the memories, feelings, and information from the people who are special to you -- not only for this generation, but for generations to come.
